Where do I find school procedures or district policies?
School procedures and district policies are available on the Salt Lake City School District website(opens in new tab). You can also contact the main office at Glendale Middle School for a printed copy of our school handbook, which outlines key procedures and expectations for students.

How do I excuse my student's absence?
To excuse an absence, contact the attendance office at (801) 974-8319 or submit an absence note through Parent / Student Portal Absences must be reported within 3 days. For extended absences, contact your student's school counselor.
Who excuses my student's absence if they are attending a field trip or off-campus school event (athletics, choir, orchestra, etc.)?
Absences for approved school-sponsored events (field trips, athletics, choir, orchestra, etc.) are excused by the event sponsor or coach. Make sure the event is pre-approved and documented in our system. Contact the main office if you have questions about whether an event qualifies as school-sponsored.

Where do I find the school calendars and bell schedules?
School calendars and bell schedules are available on the Bell Schedule and the Salt Lake City School District website(opens in new tab). You can also request a printed copy from the main office.
How many passing minutes do students have between classes?
Students have 4 minutes to pass between classes. This time includes using the restroom and getting to their next class.

How do I know whether I live within Glendale's, or even Salt Lake City School District, boundaries?
Use the SLCSD Boundary Map to enter your address and find your assigned school. You can also call the district office at (801) 578-8599 for assistance.

What bus does my student take to & from school? When do they need to be at the bus stop?
Find your student's bus number and stop time using the SLCSD Transportation or by calling Transportation at [phone number]. Students should arrive at their bus stop 5 minutes early. Bus schedules are posted at each stop and available online.

Where do I get a parent observer code for CANVAS?
Contact your student's teacher or the main office to request a parent observer code for CANVAS. You will need to provide your email address. Codes are typically issued within 1-2 business days.

How does my student join or create a club?
Information about joining existing clubs is available in the main office, on school announcements or online After School Program (ASP). Club meetings are typically held after school at 2:30 p.m. Students can usually just show up for clubs posted in the cafeteria or commons. Some clubs have limited space and require sign-ups. Daily club options will be announced before the end of the school day, or parents can call the office for more information (801) 974-8319, a current club list, locations, and meeting days.

How do I pay school fees or fines?
School fees and fines can be paid in person at the main office or by calling (801) 974-8319. Visit District Fee Information.
What is a Fee Waiver, should I apply and how do I apply?
A Fee Waiver helps families who cannot afford to pay school fees. If your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, you likely qualify for a fee waiver. Apply online through District Fee Information or pick up an application at the main office. Completed applications should be returned to the main office.

How does my student get a locker assigned?
Lockers are assigned during school registration or at the start of the school year. If your student needs a locker reassignment, contact the main office.

How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Lunch payments can be made online through SLCSD School Cafe Payment Website, by mail, or in person at the main office. You can also set up automatic payments. Visit SLCSD Lunch Program Webpage for details.
How do I find out which lunch my student has?
Your student's lunch period is listed in SLCSD BREAKFAST & LUNCH MENUS. You can also contact the main office or check the school website for lunch schedules and menus.

How do I register my student for school?
New students can register online through Glendale Middle School Registration or in person at the main office. You will need proof of residency, immunization records, and identification. Contact the enrollment office at (801) 974-8319 for assistance.
What is the difference between enrollment, course selection, and registration?
- Enrollment is the process of officially registering your student in the school district.
- Course Selection is choosing which classes your student will take (typically done in spring for the following year).
- Registration confirms your student's enrollment and schedule for the upcoming school year.

What is SCT vs SCC vs SSC?
- SCT (School Community Team) - Includes teachers, parents, and community members working on school improvement.
- SCC (School Community Council) - A governing body that includes parents, teachers, and administrators focused on school decisions.
